Keeping a Low Profile
Yes, it looks a lot like just rocks, but if you try, you can pick out some of the peeps as they wait for the tide to recede so they can feed. Blending in is a survival tactic, as these little birds are favorites for some of the predatory birds. One time I was looking at some of these little birds who were resting on an abandoned concrete block near the shore on the bay. Along came a little hunting bird, swooped down, and carried one off in its talons. The rest shrieked and flew off in their characteristic evasive flight pattern.
So from the birds we learn that it can be good to keep a low profile, lest the predators eat us. How this applies to humanity, I'll leave to your imagination.
